Each student admitted to any programme in ME will be assigned an academic tutor from the academic staff of the ME Department. The academic tutor will provide personal guidance to each student on all academic matters. Each tutor shall meet informally with each of his/her students at least twice a term, once in the beginning of the semester and the other onc towards the end . The role of an academic tutor shall include but is not limited to the followings:
- Identify academic strengths and weaknesses of the student

Advise the student on electives and answer questions about the curriculum.

Encourage the student at times of academic frustrations.

Report the general academic status of the student to the programme committee.

Alert and consult the programme leader about any urgent situations faced by the student that may affect the student's academic progression.

Bring to the programme committee any special situations concerning the student that may require special decision by the committee.

Encourage the student to give feedback on the programme and forward those comments to the programme committee.
This tutor-student relationship is meant to last for the entire period of study, unless the Head of Department, in consultation with the tutor and the student, decides that a change is in order. The request for such a change shall be initiated by the student.
